Help us honor and celebrate the community policing efforts that have taken place in Southwest Portland this past year. The event is open to the public, and we encourage everyone to show up, meet your local officers, and enjoy some good food.

Join the fun as Portland celebrates the largest event ever to showcase the Willamette River with an 11-day festival taking place August28th - September 6th, 11 am - 5 pm, at the South Waterfront Neighborhood Park.

This year, the City of Portland will start work to replace the radio transmission tower at Council Crest Park. The new tower will be nearly the same height as the existing tower and will be erected right next to it. After construction, the old tower will come down and the materials will be recycled. Construction is scheduled to begin in early September 2008 and be completed by Nov. 1, 2009.

Celebrate all the great things the Creek Stewards did such as: naming the stream at Hamilton Park; improving water quality for the Bridlemile Neighborhood; building productive partnerships with St. Andrews Church, Bureau of Environmental Services (BES), and other groups and volunteers throughout SW Portland. AND come see our Weed Management Project award sign. Snacks, too.

Bring your family and favorite potluck dish to share and join your neighbors at our Annual National Night Out celebration. There will be activities, a visit by Southwest police officers and lots of visiting..

The Bridlemile Neighborhood Association has scheduled a walk to celebrate the 100th birthday of Multnomah Village. Get some exercise and learn some history!

Join PP&R staff for an evening walk in Marshall Park, starting at 6:30 pm. Meet by the picnic tables. Walk the trails and discuss the habitat management of the site, the location of the play area, and a potential trail layout.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the rain falling on Interstate 5? Or the Fred Meyer parking lot?

The answer concerns an increasing number of neighbors who live in the Stephens Creek watershed, including Robin Vesey. A 2,000 foot-long culvert carries Stephens Creek under Fred Meyer and I-5, and drops it into neighbors’ backyards near her home.

Don Baack will take us from Hillsdale to parts of Marshall and Tryon parks and we will be discussing ideas for trail improvements in those parks. The hike will be about 6 miles.

Meet at the Oak tree near the intersection of Sunset Blvd and Capitol Hwy at 9 am.

It’s party time

Join the South Portland Neighborhood as we celebrate National Night Out with a potluck picnic and a free concert in the park.

This workshop covers prevention strategies, ways to recognize when you’re being targeted for attack, and various options of ending an attack. The trainer will introduce a variety of self-protective options in a non-physical, discussion format.
