SWNI Board Minutes January 24, 2007 Attendance: Don Baack, Kathy Bambeck, Glenn Bridger, Kirky Doblie, Anne-Marie Fischer, David Gens, John Gould, Nancy Hand, Marcia Leslie, Ester McGinnis, Brian Russell, Jan Weston. Staff: Sylvia Bogert. Press: Fred Leeson, Oregonian. Guests: Michael Mills President Bridger convened the meeting at 7:03 pm. The agenda was approved, as were the minutes of the December meeting. Michael Mills, the City’s Ombudsman addressed the group. **Our national competitors are Nashville and Austin. Executive Committee Business: · Glenn reminded us of the Board Retreat, at Jopa’s, Feb 24, 8:30 to 1:30. Feb 5 will be a pre-meeting for NA webmasters, at Stevenson school. · Sylvia reported the budget as on target. Executive Director’s Report: Sylvia Bogert. · No budget cuts are being proposed for ONI, or the coalitions. Enhancements are being considered. · Council will vote on whether to refer Charter Review recommendations to the citizens on Feb 7th. Letters of opinion are welcome. · . **SW food drive will occur Feb 23-Mar 18. Apprise your NAs. Land Use Committee. No report Transportation. No report. Schools: No report · John Gould suggested that the effort to keep Rieke be investigated by the committee and a Board commendation to the leaders be prepared for Board adoption. Crime Prevention, Public Safety, and Problem Solving. Nancy Hand · The police representative for SW schools was the committee’s speaker, an excellent and interesting session. Trails. Don Baack · Mediating differences with Parks, a new process being tried. · **SW bike boulevards are being proposed. Get nominations in. Parks. Kirky Doblie · Next: Parks’ Summer Concert coordinator. **Spots are open on the SW Advisory Committee. **Donations are requested from interested donors. · **Committee invites comments on extending the hours and days of Wilson Pool. · A motions was presented: That SWNI endorse the request of Marshall Park NA to Parks for joint master planning of Marshall Park with Tyron Creek State Park, scheduled for July 2007. Don Baack moved to table the motion pending review by the Trails committee of other nearby parks for similar cooperation. The motion to table passesd, 5-4, with 2 abstentions. Unfinished business. None Announcements. · **Ann Marie Fischer noted that the West Multnomah Soil and Conservation District is looking for volunteers for its budget committee. · **Brian Russell announced that Multnomah NA is hosting public meeting on March 10, 9-noon, at the Army Reserve Bldg on Multnomah Blvd to discuss options on future use of the soon-to-be-vacated Army Reserve Center. · **Multnomah NA will host a free movie (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, 2 pm) at MAC, Feb 11.
