High School Redesign

Updated 2/21/11
This page contains current links to news and information on Portland Public Schools High School Redesign. While high schools are the main focus, the changes at the high school level will affect all schools feeding into high schools. Therefore, this process is important to all families with children in Portland Public Schools, and all other residents who pay taxes for schools and who depend on the skills of students who graduate from those schools.

Wilson and Lincoln boundaries are unchanged.

Latest update:  SWNI-area students in K-5 Spanish Immersion programs outside the Lincoln cluster will have to go to Lincoln-area schools starting next year.  Middle-school and high-school Spanish Immersion students can stay where they are.

Final HS Redesign may affect Wilson a bit if enrollment is reduced.  Money going to Academic Priority Zone schools is, of course, not available to other schools, including those in our area.  The specifics of core curriculum in all High Schools are still being developed.  Changes start in 2011-12.

Portland Public Schools HS Redesign home page is the place to go for latest info on the plan.  It is updated periodically, so keep checking it.
