Hope to see you on July 29th!Posted May 13, 2007 Hello all,The Second Annual Maplewood Neighborhood Summer Picnic planning is taking shape. Mark this date on your calendar Sunday, July 29 from 1 pm to 5. We will have a lot to celebrate. Maplewood School should have their new playground completed and the Maplewood neighborhood should have its decorative sign caps installed by then.We will again be laughing and dancing to the music of the “Usual Suspects. There will be lots of activities for kids including a slip and slide. Last year the fire department paid us a visit and cooled everyone down by spraying out their 500 gallon tank in the lower field. Since it was 103 degrees that day it was a big hit. Adults and kids alike ran to the field. Who knows maybe they’ll do a repeat this year.Another raffle is in the planning. Last year we had gift certificates to McMenamins and the Shilo Inn among the many items raffled. This year, if the board agrees, all proceeds from the raffle will go into a fund to make improvements to April Hill Park.Ice cream, lemonade and watermelon will be provided. We will really need some volunteer help to make this happen. If you can spare a couple of hours the day of the event to help set up shade tents or to hand out ice cream or lemonade, we’d like to hear from you. Additionally we will need walkers to distribute fliers announcing the picnic around the middle of July. These are a few examples of how you can help to make this picnic a success. This event is being planned to coincide with National Night Out events.Have a question or want to volunteer?
