This may be a small thing, but today I've been picking the "SWNI" topic for these new forum topics, since I am required to pick something. I am not using the "CMS" topic for two reasons: I feel "CMS" is too cryptic and limiting, and I don't feel these issues fall under the "SWNI Server" subhead, as I've alluded to elsewhere. Website design and function is for the most part independent of "server" issues.
I'd like to see a simple "SWNI website" topic to use for these discussions, probably directly below the "SWNI" parent topic. I might do this myself, but I do not have access to edit the taxonomies here. In a quick review of everything here tagged "CMS", I'd say it would be appropriate to just rename and move that term.
Issues like this may seem trivial, but I believe language and terminology is really pretty important. Names do matter.
CMS is nice and concise
The “CMS” term is intended for website issues, whereas “SWNI Server” is about server related issues (e.g. hardware, services running on the machine, etc.) The “SWNI” taxonomy term is intended for topics related to SWNI the organization.
“CMS” was chosen because it is concise, and (i thought) described rather well the Drupal related aspects of the website. If it is not descriptive enough, it can be renamed. In any event, you should be using “CMS” rather than “SWNI” for website related topics.
Also, there is a “Misc” term for those pages that just don’t fit anything else.
That said, i think there is some cruft in the taxonomy and an overhaul may be in order. Some terms have never been used, and probably should be deleted (to make the taxonomy more lean and approachable).
