We have installed the Mailman mailing list open-source software on our server. With it, you can quickly and easily send eMail to list subscribers. Mailman supports a variety of features:
- High-performance mail delivery
- A customizable home page for each mailing list.
- Manage lists via a web interface (also supports Majordomo-style email based commands)
- Privacy controls
- Automatic bounced-eMail processing (e.g. disable user, unsubscribe user, etc.)
- Announce-only lists
- Community conversation lists
- Optional moderation (i.e. post approvals)
- Subscription confirmation
- Bulk subscriptions (forced or by invitation)
- Web-based archiving
- Per-list privacy features:
- Open or closed subscriptions
- Public or private archives
- Public, group-only or private membership rosters
- Sender-based posting rules
- “Real name” support for members
- Users may change their subscription options via the web, including:
- Subscribe/unsubscribe
- Privacy options (e.g. hide eMail address from other members)
- Receive digests
- Change their eMail address
- Account configuration
- View list archives
- Vacation mode (i.e. temporarily disable accounts)
- Auto-replies
- Multiple list owners and moderators are possible
- Multi-lingual support: list web pages and email notices can be in any of nearly two dozen supported language, configurable per-site, per-list, and per-user
- Urgent: header support (bypasses digests to reach all users immediately).
