West Portland Crossroads Community Forum
Monday, March 15, 2010, 7 pm
Multnomah Center Auditorium 7688 SW Capitol Highway Portland

West Portland Crossroads What is it? Where is it? West Portland Crossroads is located at the intersection of Barbur Blvd., Capitol Highway and I-5 in Southwest Portland. The area’s growth is significantly influenced by the easy access to the freeways as well as frequent transit service between the Portland City Center and southwest suburbs along Barbur Blvd.

Join the panel discussions among elected officials and community leaders about some of the many transportation and land use challenges, opportunities and changes that will affect the future of our neighborhoods over the next 30 years: - High capacity transit, such as light rail, in the vicinity of Barbur Blvd.; - Comprehensive Planning that would determine whether West Portland could become a 20-minute neighborhood or town center; - Interstate freeway access and whether the on- and off-ramps should be relocated; - Improved sidewalks and bike lanes to make it safer to travel without a car; and - Improved stormwater management to maintain slope stability, preserve streamcourses for drainage and natural resource values, limit flooding in the Fanno Creek/Tualatin River Basin and meet applicable water quality standards. Monday, March 15, 7 pm Multnomah Center 7688 SW Capitol Hwy This is an exceptional opportunity to interact with key decision makers. Attendees will be able to discuss their views at a pivotal time when very important planning processes and decision-making are just beginning in the city and the region. Panelists include: Mayor Sam Adams, Commissioner Amanda Fritz, Metro Councilor Robert Liberty, Jason Tell, ODOT Region 1 Director, Alan Lehto, TriMet, Bashir Warsame, Somali Community Services Coalition Executive Director, John Gibbon, SWNI Land Use Committee Chair and Marianne Fitzgerald SWNI Transportation Committee Chair.
