The Spring Cleanup & E-cycle Event and the SWNI/SOLV Litter Patrol

is almost here!

Have you been doing your spring cleaning in preparation for SWNI's annual cleanup? We will be accepting wood and yard debris; bulky waste; scrap metal; PCC Sylvania and Total Recall will be on hand to accept computers and electronics; donations of household items for Community Warehouse; and we are also excited about a new addition to this event, the prescription drug turn-in.

Acceptable items

Computers and components:We will accept computers, monitors, printers, TV's, stereos and any other electronic equipment

Prescription Drug turn-in:Turn-in expired or unused prescriptions and used needles to be be disposed of responsibly

Donations: Community Warehouse will be accepting items to be used to help low-income individuals and families improve their quality of life by providing the basic items needed to set up a home. Acceptable items include: furniture; mattresses; box springs (especially twin and double), bunk beds, dressers, night stands, kitchen tables and chairs, recliners, coffee and end tables, shelves and lamps. Kitchenware — dishes, glasses, pots & pans, silverware, cooking utensils, baking pans and casserole dishes, dish racks, toasters, coffee makers, mixers, blenders and microwave ovens. Basic household items and linens (sheets, blankets, towels), sleeping pillows, area rugs, mirrors, artwork, fans, space heaters, mops, brooms and vacuum cleaners, TVs, radios, alarm clocks, irons, telephones and garbage cans. No clothing, shoes, etc., please.

Scrap metal: Containers need to be empty and no liquids. Acceptable items include appliances, toasters, ladders, empty buckets, etc. Call SWNI at 503-823-4592 to make arrangements in advance to pick up large appliances at your home.

Yard debris and wood items: For yard debris, include basically anything that grows in your yard, such as weeds (knock off as much dirt as possible), leaves, vines (including morning glory and berry vines), grass clippings, prunings (no bigger than 1/2 inche in diameter and 12 inches long), fallen fruit from your fruit trees, vegetation from your garden. It is OK to include diseased plants/leaves. Wood items can include solid wood, fencing (no brackets or hinges), and yard debris.

Bulky items: Oversized items for disposal (furniture including: couches, chairs, mattresses, glass, etc.)

Unacceptable items

No kitchen garbage, stumps, rocks, ashes, asbestos, animal waste, explosives, radioactive or commercial waste.
