Join the Friends of Vermont Creek as we get to know our watershed! Learn more about the roles of stormwater runoff, groundwater, and native vs. invasive plants in watershed function. Tour is expected to take 2.5 hours one way (about 2-2.5 miles, some trail hiking). There will be limited shuttle space available to take people back to Multnomah Village at the end of the tour, if needed.
The walk will start at 9:30am in the upper reaches & headwaters of Vermont Creek, and we will work our way down through the watershed. Meet us at the Green Street bioswale in front of Key Bank in Multnomah Village, at SW 35th & Troy. From there we will walk on residential streets to Gabriel Park, where we will visit several sites that the Friends of Vermont Creek have been involved in restoring. Continuing on from Gabriel Park, we will walk further west through the Maplewood neighborhood, visiting privately owned sites where restoration work was completed in 2007 to see how sites can change over time. The tour will culminate at the old beaver pond at SW Vermont & Shattuck, just upstream of the confluence of Vermont Creek with Fanno Creek (near Oleson Rd.).
**BRING WATER!**
