Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc., (SWNI) is a nonprofit coalition that provides services to promote citizen participation and crime prevention in 17 Southwest Portland neighborhood associations and three business associations. Our mission statement reads: "SWNI empowers citizen action to improve and maintain the livability of Southwest neighborhoods." SWNI is governed by a board of directors with representation from each neighborhood association and local business association. Funding is primarily from the City of Portland through an annual contract and partially through board fund-raising efforts. These funds help pay for staff, an office, printing, postage, and materials which support neighborhood associations and citizens in their efforts to participate in government processes, maintain quality of life, and fight crime. To receive our free printed monthly newsletter in the mail, which will keep you informed on issues affecting Southwest Portland neighborhoods, contact the SWNI office at 503-823-4592 or email us with your name and address at office@swni.org.
