Block Parties

If you would like to close down your street for a neighborhood block party, follow the instructions below. You cannot close a street that is on a bus route or has a bus layover. If you plan to close your street, you will need to obtain specific barricades to be placed at both ends of the street. Barricades can be rented for a small fee from local vendors.

National Night Out is the first Tuesday in August of every year. It's a great time for a block party. Park permits are free for National Night Out parties sponsored by neighborhood associations. The Park Reservation phone number is (503) 823-2525. See the Office of Neighborhood Involvement website for more information: http://www.portlandonline.com/oni/index.cfm?c=33907

Community Event and Block Party Street Closure Permits

New for 2013, people who want to close their street to have a block party should apply directly to PBOT for their street closure permit (rather than going through the coalitions). 2013 Block Party Street Closure application forms and instructions can be found on the Portland bureau of Transportation website: http://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/article/306014>
